Senate Passes Stoller’s First Bill

Opens blockage on a portion of the Rock Island Trail in Dunlap

On March 10, State Senator Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) passed his first bill out of the Illinois State Senate. Senate Bill 84 authorizes the transfer of the unused portions of the Rock Island Trial in Dunlap from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to the Village of Dunlap.

“I am glad that the Illinois Senate has returned to Springfield to conduct business, and I’m extremely happy that I was able to pass my first bill during our very first week back,” said Sen. Stoller. “This legislation will benefit the residents using the Rock Island Trail by removing the current blockage in Dunlap. This will provide users with safer outdoor recreation.”

Currently, this section of the Rock Island Trial is impassable for bicyclists and pedestrians, and has forced trail users onto the Village’s streets in order to continue on the trail. This land transfer will improve the safety for everyone who uses the trail as it will allow them to bypass busy streets.

Senate Bill 84 passed the Senate 56-1, and will now be sent to the Illinois House for further consideration.
