State Senator Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) issued the following statement after the Joint Committee of Administrative Rules (JCAR) successfully objected to the Pritzker Administration’s attempt to reissue emergency rules that could have required most school districts to enforce the Governor’s school mask mandate despite a recent court ruling. JCAR voted to block the emergency rules with a bipartisan 9-0-2 vote:
“Thanks to JCAR’s bipartisan vote to block the Governor’s ill-advised attempt to go around our judicial branch by reissuing nullified rules, our school districts have avoided further confusion and potential chaos.
“Whether or not the Governor and his Administration disagree with the Sangamon County judge’s ruling, he should and must respect it and our judicial process. It was a mistake for him to double down on his go-it-alone approach and I am grateful that the members of JCAR chose to respect the rule of law.”
