State Senator Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) issued the following statement in response to the news that Marc D. Smith would be stepping down as the Director of DCFS:
“Today’s announcement of Director Smith stepping down from DCFS is well overdue. The problems at DCFS have only gotten worse under his and Governor Pritzker’s leadership.
“I truly hope that the Governor takes this opportunity to thoroughly review all of the agency’s failures and lack of compliance and puts in place real reforms that actually fix the problems he has repeatedly promised to address. The vulnerable children and families under the care of the agency deserve a lot more than what they have gotten so far from this administration.”
